He moved with his parents to Clinton County near Lathrop, Missouri in 1869 and while living there became a member of the Methodist church. His father passed away December 24, 1882, and in 1886 he and his mother came to Trading Post where he worked as an engineer for A.W. On October 4, 1896 he was united in marriage to Jessie Shattuck and to this union four sons were born: Glenn of Merriam, Kansas; Wilbur of Kansas City, Kansas; Arthur of Mound City and Howard of Moberly, Missouri. He leaves besides his wife, sons and their families one brother, William, 88 years old, and a sister, Mrs. S.D. Phillips.
