Note to Beginning Researchers:
(1) Genealogy research is not a matter of days or months, but a matter of years. Documentation must be researched, confirmed and reconfirmed. Each book you read may have different information because each book is written from the writer's point of view. Read carefully for source information and check out the source. Do not automatically "assume" the reading material is correct. You will experience road blocks and frustration - but, when you find your own family information, the work becomes worthwhile. You may decide to take a class or seminar in order to learn the "how to's".

(2) Using your online services is very important; but you will reach a time that you will need to travel. Genealogy is locality based. Birth records are where they were records, marriage records where they were recorded, death records where they were recorded, and so on. Not all records are on the web and may never be. So - utilitize your public libraries, archives, genealogy societies and historical societies, etc.

Genealogy is ADDICTIVE and exciting! Enjoy!!

One word of caution to the researcher:
It is up to the researcher to confirm their own genealogy. When checking into compiled databases on family genealogy that has been submitted by an individual, please remember that these organizations are receiving data from individuals such as you and I. They are then uploading the information to the Internet for our use. While we should all be grateful to them for their efforts and the research opportunity they provide to us - these compiled database are in no way guaranteed to be correct and it would not be sensible to assume that these organizations are going to spend their money cerifying or checking out information for millions of records. The accuracy of the information depends on the submitter - the time and effort that they have put into their database. Confirmation of the information is the responsibility of the researcher.
