Obituary of ALOIS JOSEPH "LUM" YOST
Alois Joseph "Lum" Yost, 85, died Friday, March 15, 2002, at Russell Regional Hospital, Russell.

He was born June 3, 1915, in Gorham to Godfrey and Mary Kuhn Yost. He married Florence Jacobs on September 17, 1940, at Gorham.

He spend his lifetime in the Fairport and Gorham area. He worked in the oil fields all his adult life and retired from Sohio Petroleum Company in 1983, where he worked for 38 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II. He served on the Fairport School Board, the Gorham City Council, the Gorham Fire Department, and St. Mary's Catholic Church Parish Council.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gorham, and a charter member of the Gorham Knights of Columbus and past Grand Knight. He was a member of Victoria Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Assembly and the Russell American Legion.
He was preceded in death by: his parents, three brothers, Elmer, Robert and Vergil Yost; one sister, Julita Yost; and one son, Douglas Yost.

Survivors include: his wife of the home, three sons and their wives, Richard and Joanne Yost, Hays; Jack and Gena Yost, Russell; and Chuck and Terri Yost, Gorham; one daughter and her husband, Marcia and Glen Blundon, Russell; three brothers, Edwin Yost, Perryton, Texas, John Yost, Denver, Colorado, and Jim Yost, Rincon, Georgia; two sisters, Roz Thomas, Russell, and Mary Ann Froelich, Gorham; seven step-grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 19, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Gorham, with Fr. Charles Steier officiating.

Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery, Gorham.
A Gorham Knights of Columbus and Victoria Knights of Columbus 4th Degree rosary was held at 6:30 p.m.; a vigil service led by Sister Mary Jo Trummel, C.S.J. was held at 7 p.m.; and a Gorham Daughters of Isabella rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Monday, all at Cline's Mortuary, Victoria.

Memorials are suggested to St. Mary's Catholic Church, or masses.
