Funeral Card of FREDRICK PEIL

Died May 10, 1964
Age, 76 years, 9 months and 16 days
In 1891 his parents, Adam and Christina Peil, came with their family from Schumae, Russia to America to settle in Russell, Kansas. Here he received his early education and was confirmed in the Lutheran Church. In October 1910 he was united in marriage to Catherine Pope. 

To this union 9 children were born, all of whom survive him. For a number of years he engaged in farming north of Russell. On October 22, 1927 his wife passed away and on May 28, 1928 he was again united in marriage to Bertha (Karst) Wagner at Great Bend, Kansas. There was one son born to this marriage who also survives him. 

He was a resident of this Russell community until 1948, during which time he was employed in the grain, feed and elevator business. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and took part in church activities as organist and member of the Church Choir. In 1948 he moved to Wichita and the following year to Concordia for a short time, but returned to Wichita where he was employed by the City until his retirement. He had been in failing health for some time and finally was admitted to a Wichita Hospital where he passed away Sunday evening at 6:30 p.m.

Surviving him are, his wife, Mrs. Bertha Peil, of Wichita; the nine children by his first marriage, Edwin of Atchison, Kan.; Reuben of Kansas City; Milton, Rochester, N.Y.; Leo, of Omaha, Nebr.; Paul, of Concordia, Kan.; LeRoy, of Norton, Kan.; Mrs. Esther Monroe, Kansas City; Mrs. Clara McGee, Lakeworth, Florida; Mrs. Catherine Davis, Phillipsburg, Kansas; and the son, Alvin Peil of Wichita by his last marriage. Also four stepchildren, Mrs. Helen Pattison, Mrs. Florence Weiler, Mrs. Edna Hacke and Mrs. Fred Wagner; 37 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 8 step grandchildren.
Memorial Services: Held Wednesday, May 13, 1964
from the Deines Brothers Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m.
