Funeral Card for JOHN JACOB STRECKER, JR
J. J. STRECKER, JR.
John Jacob, son of John Jacob and Katherine Elizabeth (Karst) Strecker, was born February 6, 1884 in the Mt. Strecker community south of Russell, Kansas. He departed this life on December 7, 1967 at the City Hospital in Russell. His age was 83 years, 10 months and 1 day.
A lifelong resident of the County, he was baptized in early infancy, attended rural school and was confirmed in the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger.

He remained a member of his church until his death. On February 25, 1906 he was united in marriage to Hannah Karst at the church. There were two children to this marriage, both of whom survive the parents. Mr. Strecker engaged in farming for many years, during which time he served in various capacities on school, township, and church boards. In March of 1954 they retired in Russell.

On October 25, 1955, his wife preceded him in death and he made his home with his daughter, Anetha. On December 16, 1956, he was united in marriage to the former Eva (Voos) Reuber at his church in Milberger. He enjoyed good health during his lifetime until about five years ago when he suffered an injury that was followed by other complications and the loss of a leg. He was admitted to the hospital on Tuesday morning and passed away the following Thursday at 5:30 a.m.

He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Amelia Becker, Lydia Deines, Mollie Michaelis, and Agnes Stettinger. His survivors and his widow Eva of the home, 835 East 7th Street; his two children, Lothar B. Strecker and Mrs. John (Anetha) Dunkel; 3 grandchildren, Palmer, Dennis, and Norma all of Russell. Two brothers, Ferdinand and August Strecker, both of Russell; three sisters, Mrs. Pauline Nuss and Mrs. Ida Ehrlich, both of Russell and Mrs. John (Olinda) Morgenstern, Galatia, Kansas. Also 9 great grandchildren. Also 7 step-children, August and Ray Reuber, Hutchinson; Mrs. Elma Bjurstrom, Leoti, Kansas; Mrs. Lorina Smith, Woodland Hills, Calif.; Mrs. Ruth Higgins, Broken Arrow, Okla.; Mrs. Caroline Jones, Pennsville, N.J. and Leona Atkinsson, Hays, Kays; 21 step grand and great grandchildren.

Memorial Service: Held from the Deines Brothers Funeral Home, Saturday, December 9, 1967 at 2:00 p.m. and Final Rites conducted from the Immanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger at 2:30 p.m. Pastor G. T. Nauman conducting the service.
