Funeral Card of LYDIA STEINERT
MRS. EMANUEL STEINERT
Lydia Steinert, daughter of Gottfried and Mary Wassemiller, was born May 22, 1890 in Marion County, Kansas. She departed this life on earth March 20, 1970 at the City Hospital in Russell, Kansas. Her age was 79 years, 9 months and 24 days.

Baptized in early infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith, she remained steadfast to her Lord and Savior throughout her lifetime. A long time resident of the farming community around Milberger, she was united in marriage to Fred Steinert in 1910 and assumed her duties as a farm wife and homemaker.

During the 1918-1919 influenza epidemic her husband preceded her in death in January of 1919. On March 10, 1920 she was again united in marriage to Emanuel Steinert at Russell, Kansas. They continued farming in the Milberger area for a number of years and then in 1949 they came to Russell to establish their home at 600 Grant Street. Here also, she soon became a beloved, esteemed and trusted member of the community.

A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, a gracious and generous sister, neighbor and friend, her many acts and deeds of love, devotion and kindness, will always be treasured by her husband, Emanuel of the home; her five children, Lewis Steinert of Hays, Kan.; Viola Darby, El Monte, Calif.; Leo, Leland and Hubert Steinert, all of Great Bend, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. Ella Steinert, Russell, Kansas; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, many other near relatives and a host of friends.

Memorial Service - Conducted Monday, March 23, 1970 from the Deines Funeral Home in Russell at 1:30 p.m. and final rites from the Lutheran Church at Milberger at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Gilbert Kisling officiating.
Casket Bearers- Sidney Steinert, Keith Swim, Richard Steinert, Bernard Moffet, Dale Steinert, and Lyndon Wassemiller.
Laid to Rest - The Lutheran Cemetery, Milberger, Kansas
Arrangements Entrusted to - Deines Brothers Funeral Home"
Here is a handwritten note by my mother-in-law, Elma Dumler Brack, that says "Psalm 130 was read in service.
