Pauline Nuss, daughter of Jacob and Katherine (Karst) Strecker, was born in Russell County on March 24, 1892. She was admitted to Russell City Hospital on June 6, and departed this life on June 11, 1970 at the age of 78 years, 2 months and 17 days. Pauline was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at an early age in the Milberger Church, and lived her entire life in the Milberger and Russell areas.

On June 8, 1913, she was united in marriage to Henry P. Nuss at Milberger, Kansas, and this union was blessed with ten children, 6 sons: Paul, Albert, Roy, Melvin, Harlan and Clarence, who died as an infant; also 4 daughters, Esther, Isabella, Josephine and Doralene. The family made their home on a farm in the Milberger community and Pauline remained on the farm with her son, Roy, even after the death of her husband, Henry, on November 1, 1960. After the sale of the farm, she and her son, Roy, moved to Russell in December of 1969. Her health did not permit her to be as active in her church at Milberger after moving to Russell, but she did continue her church attendance at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Russell while maintaining her membership at the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church at Milberger.

Besides her husband and one son, she was preceded in death by one brother, Jacob Strecker, and 4 sisters, Amelia Becker, Lydia Deines, Mollie Michaelis, and Agnes Stettinger.

Survivors include hr 5 sons, Paul, of Fresno, California; Albert, of Worland, Wyoming; Roy, of Russell; Melvin, of Burdett, Kansas; and Harlan, of Hoisington, Kansas; 4 daughters, Mrs. Esther Schafer of Russell; Mrs. Patrick (Isabella) Christopher, of Waterloo, New York; Mrs. John (Josephine) Dutt, Bushton, Kansas; and Mrs. John (Doralene) Sanders of Russell; two brothers, August Strecker, in a nursing home at Hoisington, Kansas, and Ferdinand Strecker of Russell; two sisters, Mrs. John (Olinda) Morgenstern of Galatia and Mrs. Ida Ehrlich of Russell; also 21 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
