Obituary of SUSANNA KATHERINA PEIL |
Mrs. Susanna Gillart Susanna Katherina (Dumler) Gilliart was born May 1, 1882, at Bloomenfeldt, Russia, to David and Anna (Schlothower) Dumler. She was baptized in her infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Her death occurred Sunday evening, Nov. 30, 1969, at the Russell City Hospital. Her age was 87 years, 6 months. At the age of 16, she came with her parents to the United States to settle in Russell County. On December 28, 1900, she was married to Gottfried Peil. They had six children: twin daughters, Mrs. Adam (Pauline) Mai, Russell, and Mrs. Henry (Lydia) Ruppel, Herington; Mrs. Gottfried (Amelia) Meier, Herington; Mrs. Henry (Isabel) Galliart, Dorrance, and August Peil, Sacramento, Calif. A son Edward, died in infancy. In February of 1935, Mr. Peil died. In August 1937, she was married to Andrew Galliart, a widower with six children; Mrs. Emma Brack, Dorrance, Mrs. Elma Keil, Russell, Andrew and Ernest Gilliart, Beaver, Albert of Russell and William of Great Bend. Mr. Gilliart died in May 1956. Mrs. Galliart made her friends as a farm wife and homemaker and as a restaurant employee. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She was the last surviving member of her family. Survivors include the children and stepchildren, nephews and nieces, 13 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 4, from the Deines Brothers Funeral Home and from St. John Lutheran Church, Russell, Pastor Earl Wall, of Hays officiating. Mrs. Howard Vladar was organist and Terry Mai soloist. Hymns were "How Great Thou Art" and "The Lord's Prayer." Pallbearers were Leo Meier, Glenn Mai, Kenneth Ruppel, Stanley Mai, Maynard Mai and Donald Mai. Burial was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Russell, Deines Brothers Funeral Home was in charge. |
