Obituary of VONA V. WAHL |
Vona V. Wahl, 76, died March 28, 2002, at Mesa Arizona. She was born August 25, 1925, near Barnard in a stone house. Her husband, Dean, prayed only that the Lord would leave him here long enough to take care of her, as she did not want to be left alone in this world. Vona was indeed a very special wife to Dean, and mother to Markley and Jordan, her sons. Not only had their nearly 52 year marriage brought fourth two sons, but two grandsons, and a great granddaughter. Vona enjoyed teaching children, After graduation from high school, she began teaching in a rural one room schoolhouse. She taught in various schools from 1943 to 1951, then paused for motherhood. Dean and Vona were married May 7, 1950 and lived in Russell from 1950 until 1960 when they moved to Mesa, Ariz. She began college courses in 1961 and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 1967, then a Master's degree in 1968. Vona began teaching elementary grades in Scottsdale from the fall of
1968 until 1985, when she retired from teaching. Fourth graders were her
favorite students. Funeral service was held Wednesday, April 3, at 9 a.m. at Bunker's Garden Chapel, Mesa, Arizona with Pastor Don Enevoldsen officiating. Burial followed at Mesa City Cemetery. |
