in Jackson County, IN, on June 1, 1835; married Sarah Ellen Watters on
August 3, 1854, in Story County, IA; settled in Jackson County, KS in 1859.
Enlisted in Company B, 11th Kansas Cavalry, in Aug. 1862; participated
in battles of Cane Hill and Prairie Grove; mustered out in Fort Leavenworth
Sept. 1865. Died on February 24, 1920, in Larkinburg, Jackson County,

Greenberry Wheeler,
buried in Wheatland Cemetery, Jackson County, Kansas. Born
29 May 1824, Kent Co. Delaware, died 4 July 1901, Whiting, Jackson Co.
Kansas. Enlisted 12 Nov 1863 in the 1st Missouri State Militia Cavalry
and served until medically discharged 28 April 1865. Mr. Wheeler
participated in numerous engagements in Missouri and Kansas, including
actions at Lexington, Big Blue, Independence, State Line, Westport, Mine
Creek, Little Osage River, Marias des Cygnes, and the Marmiton. According
to his obituary he was "many years a suffer, having contracted an affliction
in the service of his country from which he was never relieved until the
angel of death came to take him to his rest. He was true alike to
his church, his country, his family and his God." 2nd great grandfather

William Alfred Daniel, buried
in Wheatland Cemetery, Jackson County, Kansas. Born
27 Jun 1835, Cass Co. Illinois, died 21 Dec 1899, Whiting, Jackson Co.,
Kansas. Enlisted 3 Aug 1861 in the 23rd Missouri Volunteer Infantry
and served until his discharge on 22 September 1864 nearly two months after
his enlistment had expired. Participated in Battle of Shiloh in April
1862. His regiment held a position in the Hornets Nest from 9:00 am until
nearly 5:00 pm when they were forced to surrender after being surrounded.
The regiment was exchanged later in the year. William Daniel
also saw action during the Atlanta Campaign at the battles of Peach Tree
Creek and Jonesboro July - September of 1864. 2nd great grandfather, Paul

Jefferson
Daniel Knowlton, is buried in Wildhorse
cemetery in Jefferson County Kansas. He enlisted in Company K of the Indiana
Volunteers Infantry on July 16, 1861. He was wounded at the battle
of Ft. Donnelson in Tenn on Feb 13, 1862. He was discharged at Bolivar,
Tenn on Sept 28, 1862. He was born in Monroe Co Ohio on January 1, 1839
and moved to Jefferson Co. Kansas in 1966. He died February 9, 1923.
My Great Grandfather, N5STAR
Catt,
Alfred E. was born 12 Jan 1845 in Knox
County, Indiana. He was a farmer in Grasshopper Falls, Kansas, when at the
age of 18 he joined Company E, 11th Regiment Kansas Cavalry (18 Apr 1864
assigned Company M) as a Private on 21 Mar 1864 at Lawrence, Kansas for 3 years.
Was at Battles of Lexington, Missouri (19 Oct 1864), Little Blue (21 Oct
1864), Big Blue (22 Oct 1864), Westport (23 Oct 1864), and Mound City (25 Oct
1864). Mustered out at Ft Leavenworth, Kansas on 26 Sep 1865, he came home
sick and gradually failed until his death less than a month later on 21 Oct
1865. He is buried next to his father, William Catt, at Farrar Cemetary,
Valley Falls, Jefferson County, Kansas. Jim

Catt, Joseph of Grasshopper Falls, Kansas at the
age of 19 joined Company E, 1st Regiment Kansas Infantry on 29 May 1861. He
was killed in action 10 Aug 1861 at Battle of Wilson's Creek, Missouri. Burial
place unknown. Probably buried at battlefield. Jim

Catt, William was born in July 1819 in Knox County,
Indiana. He and his family settled in Kansas in the Spring of 1855. He
was a farmer in Grasshopper Falls, Kansas, when at the age of 43 he joined
Company I, 11th Regiment Kansas Cavalry as a Private on 2 Sep 1862 for 3 years.
His wife Emily Jane (Roderick) died 10 Oct 1863 while he was away in
service. He was afflicted with Typhoid fever at Prairie Grove, Arkansas
and due to his disability he was mustered out at Shawnee Mission, Kansas on 17
Mar 1864. He died 8 July 1904 at he age of 85. He is buried next to
his son, Alfred E. Catt, at Farrar Cemetary, Valley Falls, Jefferson County,
Kansas.

Henry Dillon McElroy was a private in the 36th Ohio, serving at Antietam,
Chickamauga and Missionary Ridge. He is buried west of Randall in the
cemetery. Both are my GG Grandfathers. McElroy is my mother's G

Mifflin Jennings, First
Sergt., Co. "C" of the 11th Iowa Infantry, came to Ks in 1871, from Iowa.
He lived on a farm two miles SE of Webber, Kansas, (Jewell Co.) for the
next 45 years. He was also a preacher. He is my paternal G
G Grandfather. The 11th Iowa was at Shiloh, Corinith, Vicksburg,
Kennesaw Mountain, the Battles for Atlanta, Jonesboro, the March to the
Sea, Savannah, and Bentonville. He is buried in JEWELL County, at
the cemetary two miles southeast of Webber, Kansas, I think it is Mt. Pleasant,

Henry P. DIAMOND, My Great - Great Grandfather Henry P. Diamond was born in Lowell county, Vermont on Dec. 17, 1837. On Sept. 3, 1861 he enlisted in Co. D, Second Vermont Volunteers Infantry. William McKindrey Bathurst
Prairie Center in Johnson Co., KS buried
in unmarked grave. b. 1828 Centre Co., PA d. 12 Oct 1873 in Johnson Co.,
Kansas. In 1941 all of the identifible graves were moved to DeSoto, KS
Cemetery. His unmarked grave was not among those identified for removal.
Prairie Center became the Sunflower Ordnance Works. He enlisted 1 Oct 1861
& entered active duty 2 Feb. 1862. Mustered out 30 Sept. 1864. He was
with the 10th Regt. E Co., Kansas Volunteers as a Pvt. He marr. Margaret
Ann Waters 12 Oct. 1849 in Washinton Co., IA. They lived in McCamish Twp.,
Johnson Co., KS They had four sons & a daughter. Source:

Irvin, George Withington
Born 22 Jun 1847, in Center Co., PA, d. Gardner, KS at age 85. In
1857 he moved with his parents, John and Mary (Withington) Irvin,
to Shannon, IL., and at age of 17, enlisted in Eleventh Illinois
Cavalry, and served one year. He was pioneers of Southern Kansas,
homesteaded in Sedgwick Co.in 1870. In addition to farming, he helped
erect many of the first houses in Hutchinson, and built bridges for
the Santa Fe Railroad from Newton west through Dodge City to Granada, CO.
During last fifteen years of his life, he made his home at the National
Military homes at Sawtelle, California and Leavenworth,
KS.

Armstrong, Dr. John Brown
J.B. Armstrong was born 26 Aug 1842 in Lee Co., IA, and enlisted
in the service at age 18, serving 4 years. He was wounded at the
battle of Shiloh and at Kenesaw Mountain. When he
returned to his command and was with General
Sherman on the march from Atlanta to the sea. He studied medicine
at the Medical College in Keokuk, IA following the war, graduating
with the class of 1867-68, and
rode to Gardner, KS where
he lived the remaining years of his life. During Grant's first term
as President, he was appointed examining surgeon for pensions, Medical
Director of the Grand Army of Republic for the
State of Kansas, an office he held for all but three years until his death,
12 Nov 1927.

He was born at Middletown, Ohio, in July 1838, and died 23 Feb 1916
at Gardner, KS. He enlisted in Co. E, 1st Colorado Cavalry, and served

Wyrick, Israel G.
He was born 6 Jan 1842 in Dubuque Co., Ia., serve in Co. B, 7th Regt. KS
Cav, was first young man from Gardner killed in Civil War at the battle
of the Little Blue. He died on the battlefield
on 11 Nov 1861. Great great uncle of

JAMES HAMILTON PILE was born August 6,
1823 in Indiana, and died September 8, 1901 in Spring Hill, Johnson Co.
KS. He married HENRIETTA EUPHEMA KELLER December 19, 1847, daughter
of JOSHUA KELLER and GUILELMA KELLER. A daughter was buried in Olathe Memorial
Cemetery in 1892, but I have not found James' grave. Notes James and his
brother William were both ministers of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
James was chaplain of 60th Iowa Infantry during the Civl War. James came
to Johnson Co. KS in 1857. Amy Noorian

My Great Great Grandfather served during the civil war in Kansas his name was
William P. Stubbs, he mustered in August 25, 1863
in Company L of the 15th Regiment Kansas Volunteers-Cavalry, his residence was
listed as DeSoto, He was promoted to Sargeant July 1, 1865, and he mustered out
October 19, 1865 At the time of his service he was a Surgeon who graduated from
the Ohio Medical College prior to moving to Kansas. Company L - Was recruited at
large in the State, and organized with the following officers: Captain, D.D.
Rooks; 1st Lieutenant A. Donavan; 2d Lieutenant, Orloff Norton Dennis
