Clinton Black Private, Company D 85th Illinois Infantry B: 16 Feb 1840 in Hancock County, IN D: 25 Jan 1923 in Kingman, Kingman County, KS Burial: Walnut Hill Cemetery, Kingman, KS  Clinton, living in Bath, Mason County, IL was mustered into service 27 Aug 1862 by Capt. Wainwright at Peoria, IL.  No date is shown for when he mustered out.  (According to my files the IL 85th Inf. Regiment organized on 27 Aug 1862 and mustered out 5 June 1865.) Perhaps Clint served until his regiment was disbanded.  The family story was that when Clint arrived home from the war his 1st wife was no where to be found.  According to an affidavit for widow's pension claim (made by his 2nd wife, Persia Sizelove Black) signed by Clint's sister, Rachel Black Smith, Clint's 1st wife, Melvina Patient Black, died during the winter of 1865.   Thanks so much for your time, Lorena Velasquez
