Anthony NICHOLAS is my husband's gr-gr-gandfather. He was born in Ohio, moved to Indiana, Illinois and several years before his death, he moved to Kansas to live with his son, John. Here is his obit:

Anthony Nicolas, father of John B. Nicolas and Irena Coats, at the residence of John B. Nicholas, one mile South of Dexter, Sunday morning at four o'clock, March 18th. His remains were followed to the Dexter cemetery Monday morning, by his children, grand-children and other friends. He was taken sick Tuesday morning, and passed away as though in a sound sleep. He was born in Highland County, Ohio, July 4th, 1807, and was 81 years old at time of death. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dooty.
