ARD-ROBERTS. Miss Ora Ard, of Elsmore and Mr. Vyrl Roberts, of Savonburg were married at the Methodist parsonage, Wednesday evening, April 24, the pastor, Rev. C.W. Marlin, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts will reside in the Leanna neighborhood. Source: Humboldt Union, Thursday, April 24, 1930

BLACK-HAIGHT. Mr. Ernest E. Haight of Raton, New Mexico, and Miss Blanche Black were united in marriage at her home in this city Sunday morning at 10 o'clock by the Rev. L.A. McKeever of the M.E. church. Only immediate relatives of the contracting parties witnessed the ceremony; the groom's mother, Mrs. Haight of New York, and the bride's brother, Mr. C.C. Chambers and family of Coffeyville were in attendance. After the ceremony a wedding breakfast was served and the newly married couple left on the noon train for Raton, New Mexico, where they will make their home. For many years Miss Black as been very prominent in church work and she will be greatly missed by the society of the Methodist church. CATION-BEHRNSON. Miss Lottie May Cation, of Savonburg and Mr. H.L. Behrnson, of Chanute were married Monday afternoon, May 12, at the Ralph Lister home in Humboldt. Rev. W.E. Hall, pastor of the Pilgrim Holiness church performed the ceremony. The service was solemnized in the presence of a number of relatives and friends. ERICSON-HOUK. The marriage ceremony of Mrs. Jessie Ericson and Mr. Roscoe Houk will be performed this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at the Methodist church in Bronson with Rev. Robert Craig officiating. The attendants at the ceremony will be Dr. and Mrs. C.C. Kennison of Bronson. The bride will be dressed in an aqua and gray costume with brown accessories and a corsage of pink spring flowers. Mrs. Kennison will be dressed in a pink costume with black accessories and a white corsage. Mr. Houk and the bride-elect have been residents of this and the nearby communities most of their lives. She has been employed as cashier at the Miner Theatre and Mr. Houk is accountant at the Wall Chevrolet Co., Inc. After a brief trip south they will return to Moran where they will continue to live. FISHER-CHITWOOD. Miss Mayme Fisher and Mr. Ferd Chitwood were married in Kansas City this week. Miss Mayme has many friends in Humboldt where she grew to womanhood. She held a position for several years as saleslady at the O.C. Brett store and went to Kansas City last springs to accept a like position with Emery Bird Thayer Dry Goods Co. Mr. Chitwood lived here a good many years ago and will be remembered by many of the young people. JACKSON-JACKMAN. Jennifer Jackson and Michael Wayne Jackman exchanged wedding vows at 3 p.m., March 10 in Friends Home Lutheran Church, Savonburg. The Rev. Dr. W.W. JOHNSON-WHITE. Miss Margaret H. Johnson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Johnson, of Humboldt, and Mr. J. Arnold White, of Peoria, Illinois, were united in marriage, Monday afternoon, April 21, at the Baptist Manse in Iola, Kansas. Dr. J.H. Sowerby performing the ceremony. They were accompanied my Mrs. H.C. Johnson and Mrs. W.F. Fussman, mother and aunt of the bride. The bride graduated from the Humboldt High School with the class of 1925 and later attended Cottey College, Nevada, Mo., and the Kansas State Teacher's college at Emporia where she received recognition for her dramatic ability and became affiliated with the Gilson and Sco- Geo players. For the past year she has been employed as ary and music instructor in the Humboldt schools. The groom has a position with the Hart Iol Burners in Peoria, Illinois, where they will make their home. MALEY-STEELE. The marriage ceremony of Mrs. Lena Malley of Moran and Mr. William M. Steele of Iola was performed at the Maley home in Moran Easter Sunday morning at 8:00 a.m., with the Rev. Robert Craig officiating. Attendants for the couple were Miss Martha Jane Cooper of Moran and Mr. Harry Meider of Elsmore. Mrs. Steele was dressed in a gray suit with navy accessories. Her corsage was pink carnations. Mr. Steele wore a gray suit with white boutonniere. Immediately after the ceremony they left on a trip to Minnesota to be gone ten days or more. The Guests included: Mr. and Mrs. Harold Dozier and children, Mr. and Mrs. Geln Maley and children of LaHarpe; Dr. and Mrs. W.C. Browning and Karen; Mr. and Mrs. R.J. MCCARTY-SOMMERS. P.D. Sommers, the manager of the Humboldt gas plant southeast of Humboldt, and Bessie McCarty, daughter of W.T. McCarty, slipped away with telling their friends and neighbors and were married at Iola last Thursday, September 26th. MCCLURE-LASSMAN. Miss Lillian McClure of Iola, Kansas, and Mr. Elmer Lassman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Lassman of this city, were married at the Christian parsonage in Burlington, Kansas, Monday afternoon, April 21. The pastor, Rev. S.H. Barley, formerly pastor of the Humboldt Christian church, officiated. Mr. Lassman has lived the greater part of his life in Humboldt, attending the Humboldt schools and is now employed with the Clark Lumber Co. They will make their home at 521 North Eleventh. OLIVER-BAKER. Miss Mildred Oliver, of Carlyle, and Mr. John Baker, of Iola, were married June 16, at Erie, Kansas, by the probate judge. The bridegroom is a young farmer of this vicinity, and they will reside in Iola for the present. Source: Iola Daily Register, June 16, 1928

PENNINGTON-GOLDING. A quiet and simple marriage was solemnized at the Presbyterian Manse last Saturday evening. Dr. G.W. Horn, officiating with the impressive ring service of the Presbyterian church. The contracting parties were Miss Ruby Ann Pennington of Iola, Kans., and Mr. Jack R. Golding, of Hollywood, California. The parents, sister and brother of the bride attended at witnesses of the ceremony. Following a brief stay in Iola, the newly married couple will make their home in California. STORMINGER-ENSMINGER. Miss Gladys Ann Storminger, daughter of Mrs. Frances Storminger, of Mount Vernon, N.Y., and Mr. Alpha A. Ensminger, son of Mr. Phillip Ensminger, of near Moran, were married this morning at 9:30 o'clock, June 15, at the iola courthouse, the Rev. G.T. andrews of the Methodist Episcopal church of LaHarpe officiating. They were accompanied by Miss Grace Ensminger, sister of the bridegroom, and Mr. Hardy Green. WAGNER-DEMENT. Ira Dement and Miss Susie Wagner were married Wednesday at the home of the bride's parents, who live west of Humboldt, in Woodson County. The wedding was a brilliant social event, many guests being present. Mr. & Mrs. Dement left Thursday on their wedding trip and will visit the World's Fair.
