Henry A. Rankin, son of Hugh and Emma Rankin, was born April 22, 1887, on the ranch near Sharon, Kan., where he spent his entire life, with exception at school in early manhood. It was on this same ranch when he departed this life, November 15, 1942 caused by a heart attack, while in the performance of duties about the place. Henry or Soc as he was familiarly known since school days among his legion of friends was a man whose kind and unassuming disposition endeared him to everyone with whom he came in contact and especially was he valued among the young folks, in whom he was ever interested, being a leader of the 4-H club in this community. Knowing the value of his life and to the friends and neighbors, we can better realize what his relations to his own loved ones has been, for no greater tribute can we pay then to say that he was a true and loving husband and father, always placing the interests of his family beyond any thoughts of himself.Henry's outstanding love of music and art has always been a source of keen interest and joy was to the organizing and leadership of the boys band at Medicine Lodge, and by whom he was adored as pal and counselor.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing his aged mother, Mrs. Emma Rankin of Sharon, his wife, Alice Rudolph Rankin and two children, Charles, now a student at St. Josephs Military Academy at Hays, Kan., and Alicia Jean at the home.
