James "Jim" H. Hern

James "Jim" H. Hern, 70, died Monday, December 11, 2006 at Via Christi-St. Francis Campus, Wichita.

He was born May 30, 1936 at Manchester, Oklahoma, the son of George H. and Ella (Madsen) Hern. A resident of Sharon for 56 years, he was owner/operator of Sharon Valley Travel Accessories, Jim’s Grocery Store, which later became Hern’s Grocery, and was Postmaster - all at Sharon. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, and was a Honorary Life Member and 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, Sharon.

On August 17, 1954, he married Arlene Rausch at Sharon. She died September 30, 2001.

Survivors include two sons James and his wife Jeannie, Turon, John and his wife, Julie, Sharon; three daughters Michelle Flying Out and her husband Sam, Sharon, Judy Moody, Sharon, Jacque Totty and her husband Paul, Sharon; two sisters LaVonna Mason and Martha Mason, both of Enid, Oklahoma; 19 grandchildren, Shelon, Shanda, Dawnan, Savannah, KaSondra, Maranda, Erin, Eric, Alyssa, Shane, Schafer, Sheldon, Clayton, Taylor, Weston, Dustin, Darrin, Andrew, and Mitch, and five great grandchildren, Brayden, Drake, Adin, Lainey and Tanner. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald and Bud Hern, and a granddaughter, Nikki Hern.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial was held on Thursday, December 14 at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Sharon, with Reverend John Strasser officiating.

Burial was in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, Sharon.
