Mrs. Mary Ellen Spung, age 85 years, 9 months and 28 days passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chas. Palmer at Sharon, Friday, September 13, at 2:15 p.m. following an injury from a fall Tuesday morning, although she had been in poor health for some time.She was born November 15, 1854 in Park County, Indiana. She was married to John Alexander Spung, October 30, 1877, at Vermillion, Illinois. To this union were born nine children, three of which survive, Mrs. Charles Palmer of Sharon, Glenn Spung, Osage City and Earl Spung, Harper.
She was converted in the M. E. church when 15 years old, although she had not been able to attend church for many years, she found great comfort in the Lord. She was a member of the Eastern Star. Her greatest interest was of her children and grand children who will miss her very much. They did every thing possible to make her happy and comfortable. Even though she was in poor health she was always cheerful, kind and loving to all.
She leaves besides her children and grand children, two sisters; Mrs. Adelia Ormiston of Harper, and Mrs. Ida Duck, Vermillion, Illinois, and one brother, George Holdsworth of Harper and many other relatives and friends to mourn her loss.
Short funeral services were held at the Palmer home near Sharon at 2 p.m. and at the Harper Methodist church at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 15. Services were conducted by Rev. Homer Young and assisted by Rev. Glen S. Palmer. Interment was made in the Harper cemetery.

He giveth His beloved sleep.
