Died: The chief event of the week is the sudden death of Dr. T.W. Davis which occurred on Friday evening, July 1, 1898, at about 4 o'clock, p.m.He arose in the morning as usual and brought in a bucket of water and sat down in a chair when he became unconscious and speechless in which state he continued until the hour of his death. As soon as his family were aware of his condition, Dr. Reed was summoned and everything was done that medical skill could do to relieve him but without avail. He was buried on Saturday, C.B. Sherk conducting the funeral services.
Dr. Davis moved to this state from Indiana over twenty years ago and lived several years in Medicine Lodge. He moved from the county seat to where Sharon is before there was a town here and has continued to reside at Sharon ever since. He was well known in this community and by the old settlers throughout the county and was generally respected.
His wife and six children survive him and have the sympathy of the entire community in their bereavement. He was a member of the Christian church.
The Barber County Index, July 6, 1898, p. 2, col. 3. Died: We were surprised and grieved to learn of the death of Dr. T. W. Davis, postmaster at Sharon, which occurred last Friday.
The death was very sudden and was caused by the congestion of the bowels. He was taken sick early on Friday morning and at 4 o'clock in the afternoon died.
Mr. Davis was an old settler in Barber county and highly respected by those who knew him. He was interred in the Sharon cemetery on Saturday afternoon.
