Walter A. Scott died at his home in this city at 1 o'clock A. M., Saturday, December 19, 1908, aged 39 years and 6 months.Mr. Scott had been a sufferer from asthma for several years, and during the past year it is thought that his lungs were also affected. He tried different climates during his affliction and at times got temporary relief but for more than a year is was evident that his trouble was beyond reach of climate conditions or medical skill.
Walter A. Scott was a native of Michigan. He first came to this city in 1903, representing the Equitable Life Insurance Company. On August 4, 1904, he was married to Miss Essie Lindley, of this city and or a year or more after that time they lived in Detroit where he had employment in the Detroit post office. But the work was too confining and his health broke down and he and his family returned to Medicine Lodge.
Two children, aged 3 years past and 18 months respectively - both boys - are left with the wife and mother to mourn the death of an affectionate and devoted husband and father. He is also survived by a father, two sisters and a brother, all residing in Michigan. The father has been staying here the past year, leaving in September. He could not be found by telegram and hence was not notified of the death in time to attend the funeral.
The funeral was held at the family residence on north Walnut street, Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. H. C. Duckett, pastor of the Presbyterian church. A large assemblage congregated to pay the last tribute of respect to a man who was a true friend and who bore his affliction with patience and courage.
To Mrs. Scott the hearts of her numerous friends go out in most profound sympathy. Her grief is sacred and time alone can bring a healing balm.
