GEISLER
Andrea Storz (hehi63@aol.com) 2 March 2002
I checked the cemetery site for St. Johanes Cemetery at White City, Kansas and my maternal Grandmother and two of her step-children are not listed. My Grandmother was Wilhelmina GEISLER, who died December 7, 1915. I have a copy of my Grandmother's death certificate here and it shows she was buried at St. Johanes Cemetery, White City, Kansas. Also, my mother said her half-sister Elsie, who died in 1911 and half-brother Ernest, who died in 1912 were also buried there. The last time we visited the cemetery, their headstones were gone. We have no idea who or why they were removed. My mother said there were no evergreen trees there at the time of their deaths, and she theorized the tree grew too close to the stones and they were toppled. But why they were hauled away we don't know. These graves are towards one end of the cemetery, the furthest away from the road, and if I remember correctly, have oblong lines of cement around each grave. I understand the church records and cemetery records were lost when the church was struck by lightning and burned. My mother was born at "Coyote Ranch" which I guess they still call it, and all three of the people I mentioned died on the ranch. She attended the school which is across the road from the cemetery. Would I get death certificates for Elsie and Ernest from the county office or from the state? I have no dates other than the year of their deaths.

Who were these relatives that they came to meet? This was a very important trip as they left their son, William Henry WOLF to help out. He stayed for a while then went back to Burnett County, Texas. I figured that the relatives could have come from one of several counties surrounding Antelope, I hope somebody knows which family they came to visit.

My Great-Great-Grandmother was Ethel Julia HILDEBRECHT, born February 23, 1860 (a birth certificate shows she was born in Council Grove, Kansas, but the 1900 census record shows she was born in Ohio). She married Charles Carl FORSTER/FOSTER about 1888. My Grandmother died and I received some of her things. One of them is a wooden chest of drawers which has a note in it that says her Grandmother's father made the piece. He brought it from Germany and lived in Council Grove, Kansas. His name was HILDEBRECHT/HILDEBRACHT. I also received pictures with names: Art, Freddie, Roy, Billie, and Effie HILDEBRECHT. I have many tin-type pictures and other pictures which I believe are probably HILDEBRECHT's. In my Great-Great-Grandfather's daily journal book dated from 1873-1891 (The cover is stamped "Council Grove Section Six"), he has recorded that William HILDEBRECHT, died September 22, 1886, Henry HILDEBRECHT, died June 2, 1887 and Mina HILDEBRECHT died August 18, 1891.

HUTCHISON...VANDEVEER
Maria Collins (cubahio@mindspring.com) 7 June 2001
Since placing a query about Perry HUTCHISON last April, I have learned that he and his family moved out of Council Grove (apparently before 1910), but when his wife, Olive died in 1929 she was buried in Council Grove. Their daughter, Gladys was then Mrs. Gene VANDEVEER of Parkerville, Morris County. I would like to locate her descendants to exchange information about the family. Also would like to know when Perry HUTCHISON died, and if he was buried in Council Grove. Perry's son, Floyd was living in Texas in 1929. Does anyone know if he returned to Kansas? Any information will be much appreciated.

I am looking for descendants and/or information about Perry and Olive HUTCHISON, and their children, Lloyd and Gladys. The 1900 Federal Census and the 1905 Kansas Census show them living in Council Grove (I haven't found them in the 1910 census). Perry and Olive were born in Ohio, the children were born in Kansas. My cousin and I are researching our families. I am most interested in the WEAVER's and HOUTZ's in the Dunlap (White) cemetery. BERNARD and a Fred BERNARD as attending her funeral. ADAM
Dick Ristow (car6147@todays-tech.com) 6 July 2000
Please bear with me as I give all the data I know on this family. The name of my Great-Aunt was Ona and she married a Sam, I do not know the last name, and they had no natural children, however her adopted daughter Edith (or maybe she just raised her), was married to Mr. Clem ADAM. They resided at Route 2, White City. Clem and Edith were alive when I last visited or heard from them in 1958. My Great-Aunt and Great-Uncle Ona and Sam had been deceased since about 1938. My Aunt's farm was deeded to Edith and Clem sometime after that. I was only 6 years old when my Aunt and Uncle passed away. I lost track of Edith and Clem in 1958. When I wrote them in the 1960's, my mail was returned. If anybody has information on the above families I would greatly appreciate knowing about it. Edith and Clem owned a small farm just outside of White City, and my Aunt Ona was crippled with arthritis (in a wheelchair), and gave the farm to my father (her only living relation) in her will, but as Clem and Edith had taken care of Ona for so long he thought it out of line to inherit. He deeded the farm back to them, at least that is the story as I was told.
