Michael Lloyd DREILING

Michael Lloyd Dreiling was born May 26, 1938 in rural Trego County, KS to the late Michael J. and Armella (Billinger) Dreiling. He passed away Monday, August 3, 2009 at the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital in WaKeeney at the age of 71.
Mike graduated from Trego Community High School in 1956 and from Fort Hays State University in 1960. He participated in the Debate team while attending Fort Hays.
While still in high school, he started working in the Jefferies Hardware Store and later purchased it. He owned and operated Dreiling Hardware for over thirty-six years.
Mike was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Jaycees, and the Lion's Club, all in WaKeeney.
Giving to the community was Mike's first priority. He sang in the church choir, and donated his time taking tickets at the school ballgames and alumni dances. He served on the Unified School District #208 Board of Directors from July 1973 until June of 2001, and chaired the board from July 1983 until June of 2001. He was a member of the NKESC Board of Directors from July 1976 until June of 2001. In his spare time, he loved to bowl and was a frequent visitor at auctions.
Survivors include two brothers, Donald Dreiling, and Arthur Dreiling; a sister, Gloria Korpi and husband, Bob; his nieces and nephews, Dr. Johanna Dreiling and husband, Nathan Boddy, Mike Dreiling and wife, Katea, Jessica Lucas and husband, Mike, Jennifer Dreiling, and Julie McAnally and husband, Rodd; and six great-nieces and nephews, Chelsea, Holly, and Bryce Hanks, Rowan and Erin Lucas and Wyatt Boddy.
Preceding him in death were his parents; and a sister-in-law, Andi Dreiling.
Services for Mike were held Friday, August 7, 2009 in Christ the King Catholic Church at WaKeeney with Father Joseph Scheetz and Father Donald F. Pfannenstiel officiating. Interment is in Christ the King Cemetery.
