Willa Ruth HAFLIGER

Willa Ruth Hafliger was born September 13, 1930 on the family farm southwest of WaKeeney, KS to Clyde Roscoe and Flora Margaret (Thompson) Gordon. She passed away Friday, July 10, 2009 in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care in WaKeeney, KS at the age of 78.
As a young girl, she attended Hackberry School District #38 in Trego County, WaKeeney Grade School and Trego Community High School.
On March 6, 1947, Ruth was united in marriage to Calvin Lincoln Hafliger at Hays, KS. They have been lifetime residents of Trego County. Ruth worked as a retail clerk in Pat's Grocery and Sporting Goods Store for many years.
She loved gardening, sewing and tying quilts, embroidering, cross-stitching and caring for grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Calvin; a son David E. Hafliger and wife, Linda; two daughters, Linda Weber and husband, Verlin, Sandy Schneider and husband, Dave; eight grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a brother, Kenneth Gordon and wife, Sydney.
Preceding her in death was an infant son, Larry Wayne Hafliger; four brothers, Norman, Myron, Lewis, and Raymond Gordon; and a sister, Wanda Lee Harrison.
A family graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 10:30 in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
