Lorene SCHAMBERGER, 88

Lorene Schamberger was born in Hays, KS on November 10, 1920, to the late Peter M. and Clara (Bollig) Dreiling, She passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2009 in the Hays Medical Center at the age of 88. Lorene was raised in Collyer where she attended grade school and graduated from Collyer High School in 1939. She attended three semesters at Ft. Hays State College and taught three years in Graham and Trego Counties.
On November 20, 1945, Lorene was united in marriage to Adolph Schamberger in Collyer, KS. They lived on a farm near Morland where she provided a loving home for her husband and eight children. She served her community as a substitute teacher and was member of St. Anthony Parish in St. Peter.
After retiring, she moved with her husband to WaKeeney and joined Christ the King Catholic Church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Randall Reid VFW Post #3449 Auxiliary, the American Legion Moore Post #197 Auxiliary, the TCLMH Auxiliary and Seniors in Motion, all in WaKeeney. She was a life member of Christian Mothers Society.
Those left to mourn her passing are four sons, Kenneth, Alan and wife, Neter, Gary of, Earl and wife, Loyce; three daughters, Rose Berg and husband, Helmut, Janice Burkhart and husband, Jerry, Alyce Quattlebaum and husband, Emmett; nineteen grandchildren, Greg Mead, Lorissa Haines, Kristina Carbee, Amanda Maier, Lori Burkhart, Lance Schamberger, Blake Schamberger, Jason Schamberger, Kari Jones, Kyle Schamberger, Sara Lansing, Rob Schamberger, A. J. Schamberger, Loretta Schamberger, Britney Schamberger, Crystal Schamberger, Trista Schamberger, Travis Schamberger, Adam Schamberger; twelve step grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Eugene and wife, Mary Catherine, Robert, Father Augustine, James and wife, Mary Ann; and two sisters, Rose Marie Hoerman and husband, Stan, and Sister Rose Dreiling.
Preceding her in death was her husband, Adolph; a daughter, Kathleen Schamberger; a daughter-in-law, Doreen Schamberger; and three brothers, Benedict, Richard and Thomas Dreiling.
Services for Lorene were held Saturday, August 8, 2009 in Christ the King Catholic Church with Father Donald Pfannenstiel officiating.
Interment is in Christ the King Cemetery.
