7/10/1923 — 3/15/2008Mary Frances Schmidt, 84, of WaKeeney, died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita. She was born July 10, 1923, near Ellis to Jacob and Albertina (Seidel) Flax. She attended schools near Ellis. She married Edgar J. Schmidt on Aug. 22, 1944, at St. Catherine Church, Catherine. He preceded her in death on March 3, 2000.

Survivors include two sons, E. Dwayne Schmidt, and Delwyn Schmidt, two daughters, Marilyn Schneider and Marla Pfannenstiel, 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, WaKeeney; burial in church cemetery.
