Armella Annastasia STRUSS
4/19/1926 6/1/2010
Armella Annastasia Struss, 84
Armella Annastasia Struss, was born April 19, 1926 in Graham County, Kansas, to
the late Wendeline and Eugenia (Riedel) Rome. She passed away on June 1, 2010,
in the Trego County Lemke Memorial Hospital Long Term Care at WaKeeney, KS at
the age of 84.
She was raised in Graham County, Kansas and attended rural Graham County
schools.
On March 7, 1945, Armella was united in marriage to Elmer Gerhardt William
Struss in Demmig, New Mexico while Elmer was serving the United States Army. As
lifetime residents, they farmed and raised cattle together in Trego County.
Farming was how they made a living, built a life and raised a
family.
For Armella, making a home is what mattered the most. From making a piece of her
famous fried chicken to playing tic-tac-toe with her great-grandchildren, family
always came first. Armella modeled for us how to love each other with the utmost
patience, encouragement, and confidence.
She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Pleasant Valley HDU, Eta Nu
Sorority and Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #3774 of WaKeeney.
Those remaining to mourn her death are her children, Sherry Cook and husband,
Richard, Marguriet McFarling and husband, Kevin Struss and wife, Julia;
grandchildren, Tate Cook, Miles Cook and wife, Amy, Cody Sandlin, Jodi Desair
and husband, Ron, Ryan Struss, Megan McFarling, and Elizabeth McFarling;
step-grandson, Spencer Harvey; great-grandchildren, Brendan Karnes, Connor
Karnes, Hayden Cook, Carson Cook, Treygan Desair, Addison Desair, Skylar
Wittman.
Burial will be following in the WaKeeney City Cemetery.
