Bourbon County has so much history with the building of the fort in 1842, the battles in the "Border Wars" for 8 years when Kansas became a free state and before the Civil War. The Civil War didn't go west of Fort Scott which is a testament to the dedication of its citizens. OFGS has a large selection of its beginnings to the current day in document, digital, map and notebook form. Come see what we have that will fill in your research questions.
