Brown county has its list of martyrs who sacrificed their lives to save their country. All sleep the "sleep that knows no waking" in southern graves; but their brave comrads who survive will ever cherish their memories, and the true and the good will ever hold in grateful remembrance the names of the fallen heros.

The above lists were taken from the book called "History of Brown County Kansas" compiled by Maj. E.N. Morrill, first published by Herald News, Book and Job Office in 1876. The Morrill Public Library in Hiawatha Kansas reprinted this book in 1980. After speaking with the librarian it was thought that since this book was originally put out over 100 years ago, that it would be okay to upload these lists without invading any copywrite laws.
