With total resources of $416,977.92, capital stock, $50,000.00, surplus and undivided profits, $6,986.74, and DEPOSITS of $307,761.50, it ranks with the greatest financial institutions to be found in the smaller cities of the State. It transacts a legitimate banking business in all its departments and offers to the local public every service consistent with modern methods. It is directed and controlled by men whose conservative policies insure the most perfect safety of all finances entrusted to their keeping, as well as the continued prosperity of the institution itself. Its home is a substantial, two-story structure, located at the corner of 12th Street and Military Avenue. It is equipped with one of the best systems of fire and burglar-proof safes and vaults to be found in this section, while the fixtures are made of highly polished marble and bronze, and the floor is laid with tile.
The officers are L. L. Cardin, President; W. T. Apple, Vice President; J. B. Taylor, Cashier, and R. C. Gibson, Asisstant[sic] Cashier. Additional Directors. are J. H. Boswell, W. H. Aul, and Otis Everett. All are widely and favorably known in this section and have contributed much toward the development of Baxter Springs and surrounding country. This bank was organized in November, 1917, and since that time it has had a remarkably successful record of growth and expansion. Its statement of June 30, 1922, showed total deposits of $138,394.95.
