No one can estimate the odds against two cars meeting at the exact instant a steer calf chooses to walk across the road at that particular point, but that's exactly what happened.

At about 6:30 p.m. last Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Clifford A. Millage of Alva were returning home after a Thanksgiving Day visit with relatives. Mrs. Norman Huck and son, Duane, were driving north toward Coldwater and a steer calf walked out into the middle of the road. Each driver was unable to see the calf because of the headlights of the oncoming car. The Millage car struck the calf, first throwing it into the Huck car which went into the ditch for a short distance until Mrs. Huck was able to get the car under control.

Mrs. Millage was taken by ambulance to Alva. She suffered a back injury. The Huck's were uninjured but considerable damage was done to both cars. Mr. Millage was not injured.
