Obituary

Cora Clark, daughter of James and Anna Downey Clark, was born October 20, 1885 at Topeka, Kans., and passed away in the Comanche County Hospital after a five weeks' illness on November 11, 1964.

She spent her young life near Maple Hill, Kans., and on July 28th, 1901 was married there to Nat G. Barnes.

Shortly after their marriage, this young couple moved to Durango, Colo., and made their home there until July of 1902 when they came to Coldwater.

They purchased a farm five miles northeast of Protection, Kans., and resided there 47 years.

In 1949 because of Mr. Barnes' failing health, they moved to Coldwater. Mr. Barnes died on August 19, 1950.

Mrs. Barnes with her husband and children joined the Baptist church in Protection and after her husband's death, she transferred her membership to the First Christian church of Coldwater.

Surviving Mrs. Barnes are a daughter and four sons: Mrs. Anna Gard, Coldwater; Mansel, Manhattan, Kans.; Oren, Protection, Kans.; Ted, Garden Grove, Calif.; and Jack of LaMesa, Calif. She also leaves 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Mrs. Barnes will be greatly missed by her family. She has won a warm place in the hearts of her neighbors, friends, and especially the children whom she has loved and cared for during her late years.
