The Western Star, March 12, 1892.

Obituary.

DIED. - March 6th, 1892, at 8 o'clock, A. M., little Bernice Anita Beck, only daughter and child of Theodore and Olive Beck, of Tubercular Meningitis, after two months illness; aged one year, one month and eight days.

The funeral services, conducted by Rev. James McKee of Coldwater, were held in the church at Nescatunga, the home of the little one's parents, Tuesday morning, and a large procession of friends followed the remains to their final earthly resting place.

The following lines were written by baby Anita's grandmother:

A silence broods about our home,
Two months ago so blest;
A weight of sadness __ where lay
A lily on our breast.

The old sad tale so often told,
An empty crib and chair,
A little grave upon a hill,
Our darling buried there.

I know that all the sweetest flowers
Are soonest gathered in,
And she, our babe, so beautiful
Is saved from grief and sin.

I know that in that blessed land
She never more will weep.
Yet, oft at twilight, how I'll think
"Who rocks our babe to sleep?"

Oh! when I long, with yearning arms,
To clasp that little form,
And feel once more against our own,
The heart's pulsation's warm.

I think of her with angels now,
And in that spotless throng,
Will no one rock our darling babe,
And sing an angel's evening song.

Dear Savior hear our prayers;
If loved ones 'round thy throne,
Among the joys that center there,
May recognize their own.

Grant that our darling brother's wings,
May softly o'er her sweep,
And that our sainted sister's arms
May rock our babe to sleep.

GRANDMA BECK.
