Vossie Lee Brown

Vossie Lee Brown, 48, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 1981, in the Comanche County Hospital following a long illness.

He was born Jan. 30, 1933, to Vossie L. and Hallie Cook near Louisville, Ky.

He lost his father, mother and six-month-old brother, McCoil, at the early age of five years. He then went to live with his grandmother, Ella Davenport, until her death.

At age 13 he was adopted by Everett and Geneva Summerville Brown and, when he was 19, the family moved to Sumner County. In 1953 he joined the U. S. Marine Corps and was honorably discharged in 1957.

On March 3, 1957 he was united in marriage with LaDeana E. Williams and to this union were born, Lettie Lea Brown, Melvin D. Brown, and Christina K. Brown.

Nov. 14, 1969 Vossie Lee was married to Myrna G. Jesseph, who had two sons from a previous marriage, Jimmie D. and Michael L. Jesseph.

For the past 12 years the family has lived in Coldwater and Vossie Lee was first employed by the Ford Motor Co., as an automotive mechanic. Later, he operated his own shop known as the Coldwater Alignment Shop.

Later on he was employed in the Wilmore area as Vocational Technical instructor in the county school system, and he also served as school bus driver. Failing health compelled him to give up both of these occupations.
