Mrs. T. R. Hackney Dies Unexpectedly

Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 6, 1962, at 2:30 p.m. in the Coldwater Methodist church for Viola Florence Hackney. Rev. Paul R. Markstrom and Rev. A. Fred Messer officiated at the services.

Mrs. Leroy Zielke, soloist, sang "Fade, Fade Each Earthly Joy" and "God Understands." She was accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Hazel McMurray.

Pallbearers were Nig Atteberry, Huron Atteberry, John Pepperd, Finis Gard, Ralph Hoofer and Ted Guss.

Honorary Pallbearers were Bert Griffith, Roy Oller, Horace Parker, Fay Wilson, Bill Bailey and Cecil Wilson.

Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater, Kansas.

Obituary.

Viola Florence Vulgamore, daughter of Jessie and Sarah Vulgamore, was born August 6, 1893 at Milton, Kans., and departed this life on October 4, 1962, at the Ashland District Hospital at the age of 69 years, one month, and 29 days. She moved with her parents to Comanche county in the early 1900's, moving to Oklahoma in about 1909.

She was united in marriage March 19, 1917, to T. R. Hackney in Coldwater.

They lived on the McIntyre ranch three years, then moved to a farm nine miles south of Coldwater where they resided until they retired and moved to Coldwater in 1958.

To this union were born three daughters, Vera Marie, Margaret Lucille and Betty Joan, who died in infancy.

She was a member of the Assembly of God and served as Sunday School treasurer for a number of years.

Florence was a devoted mother and a faithful wife who always put her family first, her grandchildren were her greatest concern.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, one daughter, two sisters and four brothers.

Survivors are her husband, T. R. of the home, one son, Elza Downer, of Muskogee, Okla,; two daughters, Vera Griffith and Lucille Haas, both of Coldwater, Kans., and Paul Guizlo of Kinsley, Kans., who made his home with the family for several years.

Six grandchildren are James and Mike Haas, Cheryl and Bill Griffith of Coldwater, Mark and Lisa Guizlo of Kinsley, Kans.

Two brothers, Jesse of Garden City, and Dewey of Livermore, Calif.

Out of town friends and relatives who attended the funeral services for Mrs. T. R. Hackney on Saturday, October 6, 1962, included the following: Rev. and Mrs. Charles Boshell, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Delp, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Dunn, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Crowe, and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Williams, and Randy of Greensburg; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Hackney, Protection; Mr. and Mrs. Ace Hoofer, Ashland; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Griffith, Mrs. Hattie Fuliviler, George Griffith, Don Griffith and Mrs. Clarence Smith, Larned; Mrs. Viola Rogers, Yates Center; Mrs. Irene Ayres, Pratt; Mrs. Dorothy Hormel, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Hackney, Wichita; Mr. and Mrs. Jess Vulgamore and Harold and Burl Downer, Garden City; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Vulgamore and Linda, and Mrs. Charley Vulgamore, Scott City; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Hackney and sons, Wichita; and Mrs. Lee Graves, Syracuse.

Virgil Bibb Dies in San Diego, Calif.

Virgil Bibb, who was born and raised in Coldwater, passed away in a San Diego, Calif., hospital after a long illness on December 8, 1971 at the age of 47. He had lived in San Diego since 1949 was employed at General Dynamics for 20 years. Funeral services were held December 10th, at the Southern Baptist church in Claremont, Calif. Preceding him in death were three brothers, Claude, Charlie and Victor; two sisters, Emma Mae Richardson and Ann Magera; mother and father, Gertie and Tom Bibb. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Alice, and small son, Royal, of the home; one brother, Clyde Bibb of El Dorado, Kans.; four sisters, Viola Hackney of Wichita, Lottie Mills of Coldwater, Josephine Myers and Lelah Westergaard of Chula Vista, Calif., and a host of nieces and nephews. Virgil was loved by all who knew him and always had time to lend a helping hand to those in need. Clyde Bibb and a niece, Mrs. Patricia Dunn, Wilmore, Kans., were among those from out of town who attended the funeral services.
