DEATH OF DORIS HANSON

The sad news reached this city on last Tuesday, June 9, that Doris Hanson, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hanson of Avilla-tp., this county, had died at 9 o'clock that morning in a hospital in Dodge City, to which place she was taken on June 3 for medical treatment. When she was taken to Dodge City, she was suffering from an abscess in one ear, but in a few days septic pneumonia developed. Her weakened condition, which was the result of a severe attack of the flu a month or so ago, made her body an easy prey to disease, and although everything possible was done for her, the end come soon after pneumonia set in.

The body was brought to this city on Wednesday, and burial was made in Crown Hill cemetery on that afternoon, following funeral services, which were held in the Christian church, and which were in charge of the pastor, Rev. E. H. Murray. Rev. Cummings of the M. E. church offered prayer. A quartet of Coldwater girls - Mary Korff, Helen Holmes, Marie McNeill and Ruby Henderson - sang beautifully. Mary Korff and Helen Holmes also sang a duet. The pall bearers were six young ladies who were classmates last winter in the Protection high school, where Doris was a Freshman. The floral offerings were beautiful and many, and the attendance was quite large, many coming from Protection and Avilla-tp. The services were very impressive throughout.

Doris Harriet Hanson was born on August 21, 1908, in Pawnee-co., Kansas. At the time of her death she was 15 years, 9 months and 10 days of age. She came with her parents to Comanche-co. in 1911. She attended the rural schools in this county, also the Protection schools. She was a bright, lovable and very promising young lady, and was popular with all who knew her. Her untimely death brought sadness to many hearts. How much she will be missed in the home and in the community, no one but those who have had similar experiences can fully understand.

Doris is survived by her parents and three brothers - Claude Leslie, aged 19, Harold Jude, aged 13, and Ralph John, aged 3. The heart broken relatives have the sincere sympathy of all.
