Mrs. Joseph H. Hudson, aged about 72 years, died at 8 o'clock p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 1920, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Geo. E. Beeley, in Enid, Okla. She had been in failing health for some time, her sickness resulting principally from an internal cancer, with complications. She had suffered intensely, yet she was patient and uncomplaining throughout all her sickness. The body was taken to Alva, Okla., where, on Tuesday, November 16, burial was made by the side of her husband, whose death occurred on June 30, 1919.

Mrs. Hudson, before her marriage, was Miss Nancy Ellen Yates. In Audrian-co., Missouri, on March 25, 1859, she was united in marriage with Joseph H. Hudson. In the year 1884 Mr. and Mrs. Hudson moved to Comanche-co., settling ten miles southeast of this city. There they continued to make their home for many years, enduring with all the other early day settlers the hardships and privations incident to pioneer life. But like others, they were finally rewarded for their industry and perseverance and succeeded in building up a nice home, with comfortable surroundings. There was not a better known or more highly esteemed family in the county. Their kindly deeds will long be remembered by all the old settlers. It was just such heroic and persevering men and women as were Mr. and Mrs. Hudson that made possible the transformation of the vast prairies of Kansas and Oklahoma from vast ranches into productive farms and happy homes for thousands of people. With their passing away, the long line of noble pioneers is again reduced. They did well their part and their memory will long be cherished by neighbors and friends as well as by relatives. Mrs. Hudson is survived by three sons and two daughters. They are Ollie Hudson of Oklahoma City, James S. Hudson of Ashland, Kans., Hez Hudson of Capron, Okla., Mrs. Geo. E. Beeley of Enid, Okla., and Mrs. W. H. Hodges of Kalispell, Mont.
