Haddessa Jane McKinney was born April 7, 1864 in Shippenburg, Cumberland-co., Pennsylvania. When 18 years of age she moved with her parents to Springfield, Mo., living there till 1892. In May of that year, she was married to John Milton Jones of Boliver, Mo. They soon left for Kansas, coming overland and arriving in Protection, Comanche-co., June 2nd. Here they have since made their home. Mr. Jones died three years ago next November.
Mrs. Jones was a christian woman, having at an early age united with the Cumberland Presbyterian church, but in recent years had transferred her membership to the Christian church of Protection. To Mr. and Mrs. Jones were born two sons, Edward Clay, who, after an existence of three months, went back to God, and Don Ellis, of Protection.
Mrs. Jones had been a constant sufferer in recent months but on Sunday morning, September 9, the death angel quietly took her away and she now rests. She leaves her son, Ellis and her two sisters and one brother to mourn her going. The sisters are Mrs. Margaret Mae Santer of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs., Anna Greer Grant of Sacramento, Calif., and one brother, Chas. Howlen McKinney, of Wellington, Kans., together with her many friends.
