OBITUARY
Grace Kennedy, daughter of Robert and Mary Ann Kennedy was born June 20, 1880 near Macksville, Polk County, Iowa and passed away October 12, 1931, at the age of 51 years, three months and 20 days.
Although never very strong she had been in failing health for several years and at times her suffering was intense. Her last illness was of only six days duration, death coming at 7:30 Monday morning at the Shelley Hospital in Coldwater.
When eight years of age, Grace came with her parents to Pawnee County, Kansas, where she lived until moving to Macksville in 189_. (Might be 1891 or 1894) The family resided there until 1907 when they moved to Gray County where Grace and her father took up claims. After living there two years, she was bereft of her father. Except for a brief residence in Manhattan, Gray County was her home until moving to Comanche County in 1915. She resided on a farm south of Wilmore with her mother and brother, George. During her residence there in June 1920, her mother passed to the Great Beyond. After the marriage of her brother, George, in 1921, she moved to Wilmore to make her home with her uncle, J. B. Ware, which has since been her place of residency.
At the early age of 15 years Grace became a Christian and was one of the charter members of the Macksville Christian Church. In the service of her Master her interest never waned and, unless prevented by serious illness she was a regular attendant at all the services of the church. She took much interest in the missionary society and other women's organizations. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
In her friends she magnified the good and overlooked the faults. Her keen memory of dates and events made her interesting to talk with and afforded her great pleasure in her visits. Of her a close neighbor and friend has said: "Even though hindered by poor health, Grace was faithful and true to her Christian duties. In the home she was more a sister than a friend, always finding a turn to do that would lighten the burdens of those she loved. When there was a meeting you could always find her in her place and on time."
Those left to mourn her going away are her brother, George F. Kennedy of Wilmore and sister, Mrs. J. W. Lill of St. John; nephews, nieces and many other relatives and friends.
