Moses Alexander Kluttz was born, Salisbury, N. C. January 11, 1844 and died at the home of Thomas and Bertha Preston May 30, 1917. Aged 73 years, 4 months and 19 days. He died suddenly, the cause of his death being heart failure.Mr. Kluttz served in the Confederate army through the civil war. Shortly after the close of the war he was united in marriage to Betty Kluttz. To this union four children were born, two of whom, Francis Kluttz of Greenville, Tennessee and Rosa Martin of California survive. Having lost his first wife Mr. Kluttz was united in marriage in 1878 to Frances Patterson. To this union were born five children, Lewis Kluttz, Lillie Booth and Bertha Preston of Wilmore and Alice Cole and Laura Oller of Coldwater, all of whom survive. Mr. Kluttz moved from North Carolina to Missouri and lived for several years near Springfield. In 1901 he came to Kansas and since that time has lived in the vicinities of Wilmore and Coldwater. He was converted to christianity early in life and joined the presbyterian church of which he lived a consistent and faithful member till death.
Mr. Kluttz has lived the last several years of his life with his children at Coldwater and Wilmore. He was esteemed and trusted by all who knew him and a host of friends will join with his bereaved family in mourning the loss of such an honorable and worthy man.
The funeral services were conducted from the Wilmore Baptist church and interment was made in the Coldwater cemetery. Rev. A. Burrill preached the funeral sermon taking for his text John 11:25 "Jesus said unto her I am the Resurrection and the Life."
