CROOKED BUSINESS

W. P. Murley, of Rumsey township was in the city Tuesday, looking up his _i_te (title?) to a piece of land in that township on which he filed some eighteen months ago. He alleges that some months ago two men from Harper by the name of Kinsley came into that neighborhood and filed on what was supposed to be 120 acres each. He claims that by hard swearing and quiet work they managed to prove up a few days ago and he had just found out that the land office had given each a receipt for 160 acres - 40 acres of which was a portion of his 160 and that another 40 being a portion of a widow lady's tract, she having also fled on it over a year ago. Shortly after the rascals received their receipts, they came to this city and made applications for loans and packing up left for Harper. Mr. Murley is investigating the matter and thinks he will be able to get what property belongs to him.
