CLAUDE LEWIS DEAD

John Claude Lewis, a trader at the Kansas City Livestock Exchange, and Kansas ranchman, died today at his home, following an illness of several months. He was 58 years old and had lived here seventeen years.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Maude B. Lewis, and daughter, Miss Maxine Lewis, both of the home, his mother, Mrs. Mary Lewis, and sister Mrs. O. E. Proctor, both of Carthage, Mo., and two brothers, Bert V. Lewis of Carthage and Charles Lewis of Los Angeles, Calif. -- Kansas City Star.

The news of the death of Mr. Lewis came to Coldwater, last Saturday morning, and brought a real sorrow to many. Before he moved with his family to Kansas City, he had been a resident here for a number of years and had always retained large interests in this city and county. At his death he was president of the Peoples State Bank of this city and owned large and farm interest in the county.

He always spent the summer season here, besides making frequent trips here at other times.

Mr. Lewis still retained his membership here in Comanche Lodge No. 295, A. F. & A. M.

In his wide circle of acquaintances here, the friends of Mr. Lewis were as numerous as his acquaintances. He was a man of sterling qualities, well liked and the friend of all. -- Coldwater Talisman.
