TOM MOFFETT DEAD

Thomas S. Moffett, president of the Moffett Livestock Commission Company, died early Monday at St. Margaret's hospital, Kansas City, Kansas, after a two days illness. Death was caused by heart disease.

Mr. Moffett was 70 years old and came here from Northern Illinois, more than thirty-five years ago with his brother, John Moffett. Mr. Moffett, with his three brothers, Joseph W. Moffett and J. R. Moffett, both of Oklahoma City, and John Moffett, owned extensive ranch lands in Kansas and Oklahoma. When he and his brother came here they organized the Moffett Brothers and Andrews Livestock Commission Company. Upon John Moffett's death, several years ago, the Moffett Livestock Commission Company was formed.

Mr. Moffett, who lived at 3783 Washington Street, leaves a widow, Mrs. Louise Moffett of the home; two sons, Paul Moffett, New York, and Thomas S. Moffett, Jr., who is attending Harvard University; a daughter, Miss Louisita Moffett, a student at Wellesley college, two brothers, Joseph W. Moffett and R. J. Moffett, both of Oklahoma City, and two sisters, Mrs. J. C. Lynn, 6015 McGee street, and Mrs. Byron S. McGee, 3962 Baltimore avenue. -- Kansas City Star.

Tom Moffett, as he was familiarly known here, was among the early settlers of Comanche county, having been located here prior to going to Kansas City. He lived in the Avilla neighborhood and was interested in a real estate and abstract business in the town of Avilla, when that was a thriving little city.

In more recent years, he has spent much of his time in this section, looking after his land and livestock interests. he has a wide acquaintance throughout this section, especially among the older citizens and those interested in livestock. -- The Coldwater Talisman.

R.E. "Reb" Goddard   "As I recall some of the people out there whom I knew, the following names came to my mind: Tom Moffett..."

Carl C. Davis   "Davis came to this county from Alabama about five years ago and worked on a farm. He was a hard working and industrious young man, and a year or so ago had saved and put on deposit in a bank about $800, but after making a trip back to Alabama and through Oklahoma and Texas, he and his brother, Elton, went to Logan-co., Kansas, where they worked on a ranch owned by J. C. Lewis and Moffett-Bros. & Andrews."
