LOSES LIFE BY DROWNING
Fonda Mae Richardson, the eldest child of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Richardson, died on Tuesday morning of this week, the result of drowning. Mrs. Richardson and the children were staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. T. C. Bibb, who live on the Hackney place, one fourth mile west of the city.
On Tuesday morning, while Mrs. Bibb and Mrs. Richardson were getting out a washing, the children including the Hackney twins, who were visiting at the Bibb home on that day, were allowed to play. They were missed about the house and yard, and after a brief search, they were found not far away at the water tank. One of the twins had climbed into the tank, and apparently, little Fonda May had attempted to climb in and in doing so, she fell into the water, which was not over 18 inches deep. When Mrs. Bibb arrived at the tank, Fonda May was floating on the surface of the water, and life was apparently, extinct. Help was called and, for an hour or more, everything possible was done to resuscitate the child, but to no avail.
Funeral services were conducted from the Christian church on Wednesday afternoon. Interment was made in Crown Hill cemetery. At the time of her death, Fonda May lacked but one day of being 21 months old. -- Reprinted from The Western Star.
