Frank Schenk, aged 69 years, 6 months and 6 days, died on January 14, 1922, at his home four miles east of Coldwater, after an illness of about two weeks, the result of a poisoned condition of his left foot. A sore on his foot, caused, it was thought, by a sand burr, rapidly grow worse, and finally gangrene set in after which Mr. Schenk grew rapidly worse, although everything possible was done for the injured foot. The body was taken to Olmotz, Kans., where burial was made on Tuesday, January 17, by the side of his wife, whose death occurred about 11 years ago. Mr. Schenk is survived by two sons, one of them lives on the old home place near Olmitz, while the other, Frank Schenk Jr., together with his family make their home on the Schenk farm, east of town. Deceased had made his home with his son in this county for about ten years.
Deceased was a native of Austria, having been born in that country on July 8, 1852. He came to America about 45 years ago. For four years he worked in and around New York City, after which he came west, settling near Olmitz, in Barton-co., this state. He continued to make his home there up to the time he moved to this county. Mr. Schenk was a hard working and honorable man, a good neighbor and devoted husband and father. He was unassuming and gave his time to his home and those with whom he was closely associated. The surviving children have the sympathy of all.
