Mrs. Neal Simonds died last Thursday, December 12th at the home of her father at Burrton, Kansas.Mrs. Simonds had been called to Burrton to care for her aged father who had been quite ill. And while nursing him she was taken with an attack of influenza, followed by pneumonia. Heart leakage developed during the pneumonia and death resulted.
Mr. and Mrs. Simonds lived north of Protection and she was one of the most popular matrons of the community and her loss will be keenly felt by the entire neighborhood.
Mr. and Mrs. Simonds had been married but a year or two and to the young husband her loss will fall with a force almost crushing and to him goes the sympathy and the consolation of their hosts of friends in and around Protection.
OBITUARY Dorothy M., the beloved wife of Neal H. Simonds, on Thursday, Dec. 12, 1918 died at her former home near Burrton, Kansas, from heart leakage in pneumonia, following a mild attack of influenza.
Only fifteen days before, she had returned to care for her aged and infirm father through the winter.
She leaves to mourn her death, her bereaved husband, father, one sister and other relatives, and many friends wherever she was acquainted.
Burial was in the family lot at Burrton, Kansas on Saturday afternoon Dec. 14, 1918. The services were in charge of Elder D. C. Shield.
While at Burrton, Kansas, during the illness and death of his wife Ira Simonds suffered a very severe attack of influenza and for several days his condition was very precarious.
Ira Simonds and his mother, Mrs. W. F. Simonds, returned home Sunday from Burrton, Kansas.
