The Western Star, July 9, 1887.

SMASH UP

Last Sunday evening about 8 o'clock, J. E. Sombart left his horse and buggy hitched in front of the drug store, and while he was inside the horse slipped the halter and took a run up North Central avenue. The buggy was overturned and followed the horse top side down until it came to collision with the sidewalk and was smashed into smithereens. The horse escaped with slight injuries, but the buggy was a total wreck.
