Mrs. J. L. Stanley died at her home in this city at 4:05 a.m. last Sunday, January 22. She had been ill for the past five or six years and endured much suffering, but bore her affliction with much courage. She enjoyed meeting her friends, and was able to leave her home occasionally until about ten days before her death.Mrs. Stanley was born in Sandwich, Ill. She moved with her parents to Missouri, then accompanied her mother, Mrs. Catherine McIntyre, and family to this county in the fall of 1884. She had made her home here since that time, and made a wide circle of friends. She was much interested in club work and took an active part in several organizations. She was secretary of the Eastern Star chapter here for many years and was a member of the White Shrine of that organization at Kinsley. On April 18, 1902, she was united in marriage in Greensburg, Kans., to J. L. Stanley of this city.
Mrs. Stanley is survived by her husband, also two brothers and two sisters: John and F. M. McIntyre and Mrs. Kate Kimple of this city and Mrs. Anna Bardwell of Enid, Okla.
Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church on Tuesday afternoon. the pastor, Rev. J. P. Halsell, bought a comforting message from I Cor., 13:13, "And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love." Rev. J. W. Carrier, pastor of the M. E. church, assisted in the services. Mrs. Ferrell Guizlo and daughter, Mildred, and Mrs. Martin Zerby sang "Abide With Me" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Mrs. A. A. White accompanied them at the organ. Many persons were present to pay a last tribute to the memory of a friend.
The members of the Coldwater and Wilmore Eastern Star chapters attended in a group. At the conclusion of the service they stood in silent tribute and placed floral offerings on the casket.
The pall bearers were: Maurice Herman, Victor, Virgil and Mickey McIntyre and Robert Harp. The five McIntyre brothers are nephews of Mrs. Stanley. Mr. Harp's wife, Mrs. Norma Harp, is Mrs. Stanley's niece. Burial was made in Crown Hill cemetery by the side of Mrs. Stanley's mother, who died on May 16, 1914.
Charles McIntyre was the brother of Mrs. J.L. Stanley.
