The Methodist church was well filled Sunday evening to listen to a sermon by a former Coldwater boy, Rev. Thos. A. Williams, now pastor of the First Methodist church in Wichita. Mr. Williams was raised in Comanche County, graduated from the Coldwater schools, married his wife in Protection, served his first charge as minister on the Coldwater circuit. He has many friends still in the county who knew him as a boy and as a young man, and who have watched with interest his progress in attaining his education, and his upward climb in the ministry.Upon invitation from this church, he came out from Wichita Sunday afternoon and in the evening brought the people here a wonderful sermon on the theme, "The Unpurchasable Values of Life." His talk was a very helpful and instructive one. In a few minutes talk preceding his sermon, he recalled a number of experiences in Coldwater, especially some of his experiences when he first started preaching, and had two or three charges on the Coldwater circuit, including Wilmore. A number of persons were present from all the different charges to hear his sermon and to exchange greetings with him and with his wife, formerly Miss Logan of Protection.
