Ernestine Zeigler

Ernestine Zeigler, 87, died Saturday, August 20, 2005, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa.

She was born Feb. 7, 1918 to Ernest and Sadie (Schneider) Hubbard on a farm near Wilmore. She married Wade Zeigler on June 30, 1945 in Springfield, Mo. He survives.

She was nearly a lifetime resident of Wilmore, moving to Ottawa in 2000. She attended New Eden Rural School and graduated from Wilmore High School. She received a degree in public school music from Southwestern College and was a school teacher at Ramona, Spivey and Wilmore schools. She also was a farmer.

She was a member of the Wilmore Federated Church in Wilmore, where she was the church organist for 70 years. She later attended Trinity Methodist Church, Ottawa. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and she was a girl scout leader for 30 years.

Other survivors include one son, Zearl Zeigler, Hays; two daughters, Trean Sinclair and husband Wilford, Osawatomie, and Jadeen Cook and husband Jim, Parsons; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Russell Jay Hubbard.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Coldwater, with the Rev. Kent Little presiding. Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, Coldwater.

Visitation will be from 1-7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested to the Wheatbelt Area Girl Scouts or Wilmore Federated Church in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, Box 417, Coldwater, KS 67029.
