Buddy, the 5 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Louie Vonachen of the New Eden neighborhood, had an experience on Wednesday evening which, for a time, was quite exciting and which resulted in his receiving a number of cuts and bruises about the face, arms and body. He had gone into the yard to play, and noticing some young pigs in a pen with their mother, concluded that he would climb into the pen and pet the pigs. When he did so, however, the sow protested and proceeded to attack Buddy with all her might, throwing him down and biting and bruising him badly. Finally Buddy got into a corner and close enough to the fence that he managed to get from within the reach of the maddened sow. His screams brought help, but the worst was over when Mrs. Vonachen arrived. It was sure a narrow escape from serious injuries for Buddy. On last Friday while Win Sunderland was doing some work with his pocket knife, the blade slipped in some way, with the result that Win suffered quite a wound on his left wrist. One tendon was partly severed.

On Monday while Ira Alford and family were returning home in their new Ford car, they met with a rather unusual accident. One of their horses came running down the road, and, in some manner, ran into their car, completely smashing the windshield. One of the children was thrown through the windshield to the engine hood, but fortunately, escaped any serious injury. The horse was thrown on its back, but got up and ran away, seemingly unhurt.
