George Henry Bain, son of Mary and George Bain, was born Aug. 13, 1875 near Eulsen, Germany in the province of Hanover.He departed this life at St. Joseph hospital, Denver, Colo., on Oct. 8, 1938, at the age of 63 years, one month and 25 days.
He came to America at the age of nine years, with his parents, two brothers and a sister, Edith. The sister being buried at sea.
The mother, father and one daughter, Georga(sic), also have preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage to Hattie Shimer on Dec. 24, 1900. To this union six children were born. Mrs. Vida Winkler, Denver, Colo., Mrs. Phyliss Fitzgerald, McPherson, Kans., Mrs. Marie Nicholas, Mrs. Nettie Russell, Charles Bain all of Coldwater.
He lived at various places prior to 1905, when he moved to Shimer township, Comanche County, where he continued to make his home until three years ago, when he, his good wife and son, Charles moved to Wilmore, Kans.
Having lived in and around Coldwater, Kans., for the greater part of his life, he was well known to almost everybody in the community. His happy, jolly disposition and cheerful outlook on life gained for him many friends.
Having an unselfish consideration for others made him a congenial neighbor and co-worker among his fellowmen. And today his many friends join with the family to mourn his untimely passing.
He was a kind and loving husband, father, son and brother. An unusual bond of affection existed between him and his four grandsons, Robert Nicholas, Charles Duane Nicholas, Jackie Lionel Russell and Ernest Lee Fitzgerald.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, four daughters, one son, five brothers, and one sister. The brothers are: Theodore of New York State, Ernest of LaJunta, Colo., Fred and Otto of Coldwater, and Adolph, present address unknown. The sister, Mrs. Martha Shimer of Coldwater, besides these other relatives and a host of friends.
Mr. Bain was a resident of Wilmore for several years, moving to Coldwater about three weeks ago.
Quite a number from Wilmore attended the funeral services. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved relatives.
