Funeral services were held in the United Methodist Church, Protection, for Mrs. Pirl Baker, January 11, 1976. Mrs. Baker passed away January 9 in the Ashland hospital following several weeks of illness. Rev. Paul Mundell conducted the services at 2:00 p.m. Mrs. Judy Kerstetter accompanied Mr. Jim Petty as he sang two songs, "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art."

Pallbearers were Gene Loesch, Joy Hendrix, Richard Carter, George Eubanks, Jr., Merton Moore and Floyd Williams.

Interment was in the Protection Cemetery under the direction of the Hatfield Funeral Home, Coldwater.

Obituary

Stella Inez Baker was born March 12, 1891, in the Lexington community in Clark County, Kansas, the daughter of Delaney E. and Isabel (Phillips) Rogers. She departed this life January 9, 1976 at the Ashland District Hospital at the age of 84 years, 9 months and 18 days.

She was united in marriage to Pirl Warden Baker, March 14, 1909, in Buffalo, Oklahoma. They made their home north of Protection. She moved to Protection in 1949.

She was a member of the Methodist Church, and for over 50 years she was a member of the Rebekah Lodge of Protection.

Stella was preceded in death by her husband, Pirl, on June 1, 1949, her parents, four brothers and one sister.

She leaves to mourn her passing two daughters, Ruth Williams of Protection and Luella Williams of Ashland; one sister, Alta Blasdel of Norman, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, as well as many other relatives and friends.
